He Kura is an innovative collaboration between Whitirau Cross100 and Native Sports Performance, aimed at boosting the health and well-being of the community.
Whitirau Cross100 is a unique functional fitness gym that integrates Kaupapa Māori principles, emphasizing Te Reo Māori and Te Whare Tapa Whā. Its mission is to promote oranga (well-being) by blending functional fitness with Māori cultural values, which are central to the concept of Te Whare Tapa Whā. By incorporating these values Whitirau Cross100 fosters not only physical fitness but also oranga hinengaro (mental well-being), oranga wairua (spiritual growth) and tūhonotanga/whanaungatanga (community connection).
Native Sports Performance is a driven and dedicated brand aimed at equipping whānau both on and off the sports field. Native Sports Performance focuses on developing outstanding athletes who also emerge as leaders within their communities. To achieve this, Native Sports Performance provides specialized coaching, mentorship, and tailored support designed to enhance athletic capabilities and help individuals reach their full potential.
In addition to focusing on sports performance, Native Sports Performance offers a range of engaging activities for all age groups, from tamariki to kaumātua including Hip Hop Step Classes, Line Dancing and a Level 2 Consturction course. They also conduct wānanga that equip participants with skills to reconnect with the taiao, ngahere, marae, and moana.
Together, this collaboration aims to create a supportive environment where individuals and whānau can thrive both physically and culturally.
